IC INFO;

CHARACTER NAME: King Artoria Pendragon, aka Saber. NB: Both Altria and Artoria are considered ‘official’ translations of her name in English; I use Artoria because it looks less stupid.
CANON & HISTORY: Fate/Stay night (unlimited blade works); canon, route, saber
AGE: Unknown; Artoria stopped physically aging upon drawing the sword Caliburn from the stone in her mid teens, so while she looks to be around sixteen or seventeen, she’s probably actually in her mid to late twenties, not counting the whole Heroic Spirit thing which technically makes her a bajillion years old.
CANON POINT: After destroying the Holy Grail and disappearing.
PERSONALITY:

Artoria takes the Knight’s Oath (to be honorable, humble and to defend those who cannot defend themselves) fairly seriously -- it makes sense, as she’s the one who came up with it. She is dignified and loyal to a fault, and has a regality about her that she can’t really hide. It’s obvious that Artoria is of noble descent just by watching her and listening to her speak. She can command a room with her presence, and held the loyalty and love of several of her Knights of the Round Table, just through the sheer magnitude of her chivalry alone. She is a loyal knight and friend, and when she makes a promise or an oath, she will stick to it, through better or for worse. Even despite losing her link to Shirou as his Servant, she still insists on staying at his side and protecting him as his sword to the end, because that was the oath she made when she was summoned. Loyalty, honor and bravery are the most important things to her, and she will do almost anything to uphold those values.

Artoria is also regal, with all the experience that comes as king. Her rule was just, but she does feel she could have done better in her life - indeed, her wish to find the Holy Grail was guided by her desire to do right by Britain; to save it by never becoming king.

You see, while Artoria was a wise and just ruler, she was also in over her head. She was the kind of ruler that would destroy one to save many, but even after a while, one adds up. She undefeatable, because the posession of Excalibur, and it’s sheathe, Avalon, gave Artoria the ability to essentially never die. Excalibur stopped her from growing older, while Avalon rendered any wound she suffered non fatal. As a result, in her constant defense of invasions of Britain, she tore the land apart without so much as a scratch on herself. The biggest blow, however, came from the rebellion of one of the Knights of the Round Table - her daughter, Mordred. Artoria’s refusal to acknowledge Mordred (as the illegitimate child of Artoria and her half-sister Morgana through means honestly best left vague) led Mordred to stealing away the sheathe, Avalon, and lead to the battle of Camlann Hill, where Artoria died at Mordred’s hand.

She died with only regrets. Artoria gave away her humanity to become king; it isn’t simply a ‘feeling’ like she has. She very much did. She gained the blessing of the fae, become nigh immortal and eschewed most personal relationships outside of a select few of her knights. The regret she has comes from this: because she had to lose her humanity to become the savior of Britain, Artoria feels like she wasn’t the savior at all, but the cause of its ruin. The moment she died, she pleaded to the world to allow her to become a Heroic Spirit so she could find the Grail and correct the mistake she’d made.

Artoria still has these regrets. She knows she never should have become King, and will still do anything to right this perceived wrong. But she’s also found out that the Grail isn’t the way to do it. The Grail has become a corrupted thing, dark and twisted, and though it pains her, she still destroys it - because saving the world she is summoned to is more important than whatever wish she may have had.

Artoria’s idealism stems from her chivalry and status as the King of Knights. She wishes to protect people who cannot protect themselves, to become a sword to defend people. She doesn’t necessarily consider herself a ‘woman’ - not, perhaps, in the gender identity sense, but Artoria was raised a boy and became King. The common ethos prescribed to women, she feels, don’t apply to her at all. She won’t stay at home, she won’t let someone fight for her when she’s perfectly capable of doing so herself, and she doesn’t care about the ‘gender’ of the clothing she wears. She’ll wear skirts and blouses just as easily as she wears a three piece silk suit. (Feminism? In my eroge? It’s more likely than you think.) She’s not above liking or enjoying things that are deemed ‘girly’ by society at large, however. She loves stuffed lions, for example. Artoria just doesn’t adhere to common gender norms, and hasn’t her entire life, and won’t stand for it when people try to force her to do so.

And it’s hard to force her to do things. Artoria is incredibly stubborn, and isn’t above putting her foot down when she needs to. The only person she’ll defer to most of the time is the person whom she considers her Master, and even then, there are lines that she will absolutely cross if she feels like her perspective on the situation at hand is the superior one. She’s also quite the sore loser; beat her at a game, and she’ll make you keep playing until she either wins or you run out of money. It’s also worth mentioning that while Artoria cannot cook for herself, she loves to eat. As a Servant, she normally doesn’t need to - but while Shirou was her master, she needed to eat to keep her energy up, and her appetite was voracious. This didn’t stop when Rin became her master. She loves good food, and she loves eating good food. The quickest way to her heart is a full, three course, meal.

POWERS:

As a Servant of the Holy Grail War, Artoria is granted several abilities related to her, essentially, being a living, breathing, weapon powered by mana from the person who serves as her Master in the war. Artoria cannot sustain herself for long periods of time without a Master, but when she has one, she is superhuman, with superhuman strength/speed/agility/durability. In essence, she exists to kill, or be killed by, other Servants in the Holy Grail War, and her very existence revolves around that. Being a servant also gives her the ability to change into her Blue Battle Dress of Doom(™) at any time without destroying the physical clothing she’s already wearing, huzzah!
  • Anti-Magic; As a member of the Knight category servant class, the Saber class is blessed with the ability to automatically cancel all magic cast upon her. Essentially, Artoria is untouchable when it comes to magic, including resisting things like mind control. High level magics (eg, Limit Breaks, Noble Phantasms, world ending catastrophic powers) will also not be nullified by Artoria's inherent ability.
  • Riding; As the King of Knights(tm), Artoria is proficient in mounted warfare, including horses, chariots, and 'modern mounts' such as motorcycles and automobiles. Even though she's a skilled rider, Artoria can't control magical or mythical beasts — if it's not considered a normal mount, she has to learn to ride or drive it.
  • Instinct; Artoria is a skilled enough fighter with bladed weapons that, during the course of combat, she can instantly identify the best action to take, regardless of who she's fighting. This doesn't mean that Artoria is super awesome god mode levels — she just knows if she's going to lose before it happens and takes steps to make sure she (hopefully) doesn't die. Her instinct is enough that she can even avoid attacks from projectile weapons, including firearms. She's also able to negate any penalties from visual or audio interference, up to a point.
  • Mana Burst; Simply put, Artoria can create the effect of a jet burst by releasing a large amount of magical energy, should she have the resource to do so (such as a Master with a large mana pool). With this skill, Artoria can destroy a weapon that doesn't have divine or magical protection, and she can also raise her defense to incredibly high levels. However, using this skill comes at the cost of using Artoria's own mana — and if she doesn't have a way to replace that mana, it's gone forever, and if Artoria runs out of mana, she 'dies'.
  • Noble Phantasm; (NB: This one will not be accessible to Artoria in Spellbind at all; it’s listed here for completeness.) Excalibur: The Sword of Promised Victory is the holy sword weilded by King Arthur. As Artoria's Noble Phantasm, she calls upon the divine magic within the blade, and strikes out in a single burst of magic that comes out in a large, golden, beam of light. At it's strongest, Artoria can wipe out entire cities, but it requires all of Artoria's mana to use at that point, and as a result, she tends to keep it fairly limited in scope and also tends to aim the blast towards the sky. In order to use it effectively, Artoria must be at a distance from her opponent, the farther the better. If Artoria loses the use of even one of her hands, she cannot use the Noble Phantasm at all, as it requires both of her hands to weild. Once used, no matter how much power she's put into it, Artoria is rendered exhausted — and if she uses it without enough mana, Artoria will fade away after use. Artoria will also refuse to use the Noble Phantasm if any innocent bystanders are present — it is very difficult to keep the surrounding area from receiving damage when she lets loose the blast.

OTHER: Don’t pull on her ahoge…..

GAME INFO;

MAGIC ABILITY: Weapons Gacha; in short, Artoria can pull weapons out of water. This is determined by body of water and whether or not Artoria can reach her hand into it. The smaller the body of water, the smaller the weapon Artoria will pull. The weapon is random, though with time and practice Artoria will be able to at least choose the type of weapon she draws, if not an exact make and model (ie, if she wants a gun, she’ll pull out a random gun, but she can’t specifically pull out an AK-47). Artoria must be able to submerge her hand into the water to draw the weapon — she cannot, for instance, reach just her fingers into a glass of water and pull something out. The weapons are permanent, real, and anything requiring ammunition will need it. Guns will come loaded, but after the ammunition is spent, more will need to be procured. Bows will come with one quiver of arrows, which will be emptied. Swords will have no magical properties, and unless a miracle happens, will not be named or famous or even really that good.
PRICE: Her sword, Excalibur. A magic sword given to Artoria by Vivienne, the Lady of the Lake, along with its scabbard, Avalon. Artoria’s natural weapon of choice, it is the main component of her Noble Phantasm.
ACCLIMATION: 9/10; Artoria has been through numerous Grail Wars, two of which she can recall vividly, and is used to being summoned to places she doesn’t know to fight. The big thing keeping her from being a full 10/10 is the fact she won’t be able to summon Excalibur or use a lot of her Servant skills on low frequency worlds. But, for the most part, Artoria will take it in (relative) stride.
